
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the commencement of the first phase of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project today at a ceremony held near Trisulia, marking a significant milestone in the state’s infrastructural development.
The ambitious project’s initial phase will establish a crucial link between Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) and Trisulia Square, covering a distance of 26 km with a total of 20 strategically located stations. The State Government has allocated a budget of Rs 6,255 crore for the first phase work.
The proposed metro stations in the first phase include key locations such as Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vani Vihar, Acharya Vihar Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nanandankanan Zoological Park, Phulapokhari, and Trisulia Square.
To facilitate the successful execution of the project, the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, bringing in valuable expertise and collaboration.
