Odisha CM Launches Enhanced Pension Scheme for Elderly and Differently-Abled Citizens

Bhubaneswar: To ensure financial security and dignity for the elderly and differently-abled citizens, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today launched an enhanced pension scheme during his visit to Keonjhar district.

Under the revamped scheme, individuals aged 80 years or above and those with a disability level of 80% or higher will receive a monthly pension of ₹3,500. This marks a significant increase from the ₹1,200 pension offered by the previous administration.

The Chief Minister highlighted the scheme as a fulfillment of a key promise from the BJP’s election manifesto. Addressing the gathering, he said, “This enhanced pension is a step toward ensuring dignity and financial security for our elderly and disabled population. It reflects our commitment to improving the lives of the most vulnerable sections of society.”

The new scheme is expected to benefit around four lakh people across Odisha, providing crucial support to individuals in need. The Chief Minister also emphasized the state government’s focus on inclusive growth and welfare-driven initiatives.
