Odisha CM Inaugurates Annual State-Level Flower Exhibition at Ekamra Kanan

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the much-anticipated Annual State-Level Flower Exhibition at the Regional Plant Resource Centre (RPRC), Ekamra Kanan, on Sunday. The five-day event, running from January 7 to 11, is a vibrant celebration of Odisha’s rich floral heritage, organized in collaboration with the Plant Lovers Association and featuring over 70 participating institutions from across the state.

During the inauguration, CM Majhi underscored the cultural and spiritual significance of flowers in Odisha’s heritage. “Flowers symbolize unblemished hearts, peace, and faith. Their delicate beauty has captivated humanity since the dawn of creation. This exhibition is a testament to nature’s unmatched artistry,” he said.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the exhibition’s international appeal, noting that delegates attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave would visit the event. He expressed confidence that the vibrant floral displays would leave a lasting impression on global visitors.

The exhibition offers a stunning showcase of cut flowers, bonsai, orchids, and themed gardens. Visitors can also enjoy captivating cultural performances, including Odissi, Chhau, Sambalpuri, and Paika dances. Adding to the attraction, a new gate complex, a multi-colored garden, and a cactus house were inaugurated, further enhancing the exhibition’s appeal.

To encourage and recognize participants, an award ceremony will honor excellence across various categories. The Chief Minister also unveiled the Annual Research Report of the RPRC for 2024-25 and the latest edition of Sabujima, a magazine published by the Plant Lovers Association.

Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, Minister of Forests, Environment, and Climate Change, graced the event as the guest of honor. Other notable attendees included Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department, and Suresh Kumar Pant, Chief Executive Officer of the RPRC.

In his closing remarks, CM Majhi extended gratitude to plant enthusiasts for their contributions and urged the public to cultivate a deeper appreciation for nature. “Nurturing love for nature is vital to preserving its beauty for generations to come,” he said.
