Odisha CM Flags Off ₹50,000 Crore Investment Push in Dhenkanal, Eyes Solar Energy Leadership

Dhenkanal: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today rolled out a slew of mega projects worth over ₹50,000 crore in Dhenkanal district. The initiatives span across clean energy, sports infrastructure, and public development, signaling the government’s renewed focus on job creation and sustainable growth.

At a public gathering in Dhenkanal, the Chief Minister inaugurated 12 developmental projects worth ₹112 crore and laid foundation stones for 10 others worth ₹76 crore. Together, the ₹188 crore worth of civic and infrastructure projects promise to strengthen the district’s public service network and improve connectivity.

However, the spotlight was firmly on the formal launch of industrial investments totaling more than ₹50,000 crore, with solar energy projects alone accounting for ₹30,000 crore. CM Majhi announced that these initiatives would help position Dhenkanal as Odisha’s emerging solar energy capital and create over 26,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

“This is a defining moment not just for Dhenkanal, but for the entire state,” Majhi said. “The ‘Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha’ drive is delivering results. We are building an industrial ecosystem that is powered by clean energy and committed to creating jobs for our youth.”

In a move aimed at empowering youth through sports, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation for the Baji Rout Sports Complex at Banamaliprasad. With an investment of ₹120 crore, the facility will include modern amenities like a football ground, synthetic athletic track, hockey centre, swimming pool, indoor stadium, and a 100-bed sports hostel.

“The complex will not just nurture athletes, it will inspire a generation. The youth of Odisha must know they have the full backing of the state,” Majhi stated, dedicating the project to Odisha’s youngest martyr, Baji Rout.

Underscoring his administration’s push for employment, the Chief Minister noted that 27,000 government vacancies have already been filled within the first year of his tenure, with a directive issued to recruit an additional 40,000 personnel. He also highlighted the recent increase in the upper age limit for state government jobs to 42 years, calling it a long-overdue reform.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, speaking at the event, said the pace of industrial development under the new government has gained unprecedented momentum. “Within months of assuming office, we are witnessing real movement on the ground. These are not just promises; they are becoming reality,” he said.

Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra added that the government’s approach is grounded in action and accountability. “Our mission is to fulfill the aspirations of the people. Every project launched today reflects that commitment.”
