Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed officials to complete the assessment of crop damage caused by unseasonal rains and identify affected farmers by December 30. In a review meeting held at Lok Seva Bhavan today, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for meticulous efforts to ensure that no farmer is left out of the assistance process.
The meeting resolved that both insured and uninsured farmers would receive assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as per the guidelines of the state and central governments. CM Majhi also called for an extensive awareness campaign to inform insured farmers about reporting crop damage within the stipulated timeframe to their insurance companies.
Reports presented during the meeting indicated that 1.26 lakh farmers have reported losses under the crop insurance scheme. The Chief Minister appealed to all insured farmers to report their losses by December 29 and urged registered farmers from various districts to use the “Krishi Rakshak Portal” or call 14447 to report crop damage caused by the unseasonal rains.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment KV Singh Deo, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management Suresh Pujari, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Nikunj Bihari Dhal, and Special Relief Commissioner Deo Ranjan Singh.
CM Majhi stressed the importance of timely action and urged officials to ensure that all necessary measures are implemented promptly to support the affected farming community. The state government’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to mitigating the impact of unseasonal rains on farmers and ensuring their swift recovery.
