Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards the welfare of construction workers in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an augmentation in their pension. The pension for workers registered with the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board has been raised.
Effective February 2024, all construction workers aged 60 and above, registered with the board, will now receive a monthly pension of Rs 1,000, witnessing a substantial increase from the previous amount of Rs 500. Additionally, laborers aged 80 and above will also benefit from this enhancement, receiving a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 instead of the earlier Rs 700. The Chief Minister’s initiative aims to provide better financial support to construction workers during their retirement years, acknowledging their significant contributions to the development of the state.
