Bhubaneswar: The Centre has appointed Odisha-cadre IPS officer Dhirendra Sambhaji Kutey as the Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF). A 1997-batch officer, Kutey will hold the position at Level-14 in the Pay Matrix, with his tenure extending up to his superannuation on February 29, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The appointment was confirmed in an official communication to the Odisha Home Department.
The announcement follows another recent appointment of Odisha-cadre IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh as Inspector General in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on a deputation basis. Singh, a 2004-batch IPS officer, has been appointed for a tenure of five years.
Dhirendra Sambhaji Kutey’s career has seen significant milestones, though it faced turbulence earlier this year when the Election Commission of India ordered his suspension for alleged undue interference during elections. At the time, he was serving in the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office.
