Odisha Cabinet Clarifies AgriStack Registration Not Linked to Paddy Procurement

Bhubaneswar: Farmers in Odisha need not worry about paddy procurement due to their status in the AgriStack farmers registry, the State Cabinet clarified on Wednesday, assuring that AgriStack registration has no bearing on registration under the Paddy Procurement Automation System (PPAS).

The clarification followed discussions in the Cabinet meeting over media reports highlighting difficulties faced by some farmers in completing their AgriStack registration. The reports had raised concerns that such difficulties could affect farmers’ registration for paddy procurement.

The government clarified that AgriStack farmer registration and PPAS registration are two separate processes and there is no linkage between them for paddy procurement.

“The farmers need not worry about their paddy procurement on account of their Agristack farmers registry status,” the government said.

The Cabinet further clarified that the registration of farmers under PPAS for paddy procurement will continue this year in the same manner as in the previous year. Therefore, farmers who face difficulties or have not completed their AgriStack registration will not be denied the opportunity to register for paddy procurement on that account.

The clarification is expected to provide relief to farmers who had been concerned that delays or difficulties in AgriStack registration could affect their eligibility to sell paddy through the government procurement system.

The State Government has reiterated that the paddy procurement process will continue under the existing PPAS mechanism, ensuring that farmers are able to participate in the procurement process without being affected by their AgriStack registration status.
