Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to enhance the cultural landscape of Odisha, the State Cabinet granted its approval on Friday for the establishment of the Odisha Culture Development Service (OCDS) Cadre. This initiative is part of a comprehensive restructuring plan for the Odisha Culture Service Cadre, aimed at attracting highly skilled professionals to contribute to the promotion, protection, and conservation of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture. The overarching goal is to foster the overall cultural growth of the state and ensure efficient management of the dedicated schemes undertaken by the Department.
As part of this restructuring, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation of key positions within the Odisha Culture Development Service (OCDS) Cadre, including Culture Development Officer, Assistant Director (Culture), Deputy Director (Culture), Joint Director (Culture), and Additional Director (Culture). These roles are envisioned to play a pivotal role in enriching the cultural and heritage fabric of the state, aligning with the evolving needs of the sector.
The establishment of the OCDS Cadre is anticipated to address the demand for skilled human resources, contributing significantly to the cultural and artistic endeavors of Odisha. To facilitate this restructuring and ensure the successful implementation of the cadre, an annual provision of approximately Rs 2.17 Crores has been earmarked to cover the associated expenditures.
