Odisha Cabinet Approves Amendments to Dental Surgeon Recruitment Rules to Boost Healthcare

Bhubaneswar: In a key step towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure, the Odisha Cabinet has approved amendments to the Odisha Medical Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Dental Surgeon) Rules, 2022, enabling the recruitment of over 100 Dental Surgeons in the state.

According to an official release, the amendments streamline the recruitment process by addressing gaps in the existing framework. A significant change includes the addition of a proviso to sub-rule (10) of rule 6, stipulating that any aspect of direct recruitment not explicitly covered by the rules will be governed by the Rules of Procedure established by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).

For critical matters not specified in the existing rules, the OPSC, in consultation with the concerned department, will make decisions to ensure the seamless conduct of examinations and recruitment. Such decisions will be deemed final unless altered by future amendments or policy changes.

Additionally, the Cabinet has removed the proviso to clause (e) of sub-rule (1) of rule 7, which previously required candidates to hold a valid registration certificate under the Dentist Act, 1948 at the time of application. This change is expected to simplify the eligibility criteria and expedite the hiring process.
