Bhubaneswar: In a dedicated effort to enhance life-saving measures and bolster voluntary blood collection in remote areas, the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited is set to deploy two new Mobile Blood Collection Vans to various Medical Colleges and District Headquarter Hospitals. Building upon the success of the initiative launched in November 2019, which saw the deployment of nine Blood Collection Vans across different locations, an additional five vans were stationed in March 2023. These vans were strategically placed at key Blood Banks, including those in SCB MC&H-Cuttack, MKCG MC&H-Berhampur, VIMSAR-Burla, DHH-Bolangir, SLNMC&H-Koraput, DHH-Baripada, DHH-Balasore, DHH-Bargarh, and RGH Rourkela.
The successful implementation of these mobile units has led to a substantial increase in voluntary blood collection since 2020. To further reinforce this positive trend, Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited has procured two fully-equipped Mobile Blood Collection Vans. Each van is equipped with essential collection equipment such as a Donor Couch, Blood Storage Refrigerator, Blood Collection Monitor, Blood Bag Sealer, and additional ancillaries, including a generator and inverter.
The cost for each van, totaling Rs 54,71,700, encompasses the procurement of Blood Collection Equipment and ancillaries, vehicle registration, insurance, a three-year comprehensive warranty, and GST. This strategic investment aims to cater to the blood requirements of the common citizens efficiently, bringing essential healthcare services closer to communities in need.
