
Bhubaneswar: Amidst Omicron surge across the country, the Odisha government on Friday completely banned Zero night celebration across the state.
Issuing fresh guidelines to avoid mass gathering of people during Christmas and New Year, the State Government completely banned Zero Night celebrations in hotels, clubs, restaurants, parks, convention halls, Kalyan Mandaps across the state.
“No social gatherings, rallies, orchestras, dance and other cultural events will be permitted on the two occasions,” said the order issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).
“Christmas celebration will be limited to churches with a maximum 50 persons joining the mass by strictly following COVID protocols and in terms of specific conditions as imposed by collectors, municipal commissioners and local authorities while permitting such mass, if any,” read the SRC order.
Strict surveillance will be done to check overcrowding and gathering at public places on Christmas and New Year.
