NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) Forges Strategic Partnerships at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024

Gandhinagar:  In a significant development during the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (GSPC) and Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. (GPPL). The three-day summit, taking place from January 10 to 12 in Gandhinagar, witnessed these crucial agreements aimed at advancing green initiatives and promoting sustainable energy solutions.

The first MoU, inked with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd., focuses on the integration of Green Hydrogen into the gas networks of GSPC. Additionally, the agreement aims to encourage Green Hydrogen mobility by establishing fuelling stations across Gujarat. The exchange of the MoU took place in the presence of Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Minister of Finance, Energy & Petrochemicals, Government of Gujarat, Shri Kanubhai Desai, Member, NITI Aayog, Dr. V. K. Saraswat, along with other esteemed officials and international delegates. CMD of NTPC, Shri Gurdeep Singh, and MD of GSPC, Shri Milind Torawane, officiated the exchange of the MoU.

The second MoU, entered into with Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd., aims to establish a green hydrogen ecosystem. This includes the production of green ammonia for both domestic and export markets, utilizing land provided by GPPL. The partnership also explores the potential development of Pipavav Port as an anchor port by NGEL for offshore wind farm exploration, development, and operations in Gujarat. The exchange of this MoU involved GM-Hydrogen from NTPC and the MD of APM Terminals, Pipavav.

NGEL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, is poised to lead NTPC’s Renewable Energy journey. With an operational capacity exceeding 3.4 GW and a robust pipeline of 26 GW, including 7 GW under implementation, NGEL is committed to advancing India’s renewable energy landscape.

Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (GSPC), renowned as one of India’s largest gas trading companies, specializes in the exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas.

Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. (GPPL), a leading private port in India promoted by A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S, currently boasts a handling capacity of 1.35 million TEUs of containers, 4 – 5 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo, 2 million tonnes of liquid cargo, and approximately 2,50,000 cars per year.
