NLC India Ltd Forms Two Joint Ventures with RRVUNL to Boost Renewable and Thermal Power Projects in Rajasthan

New Delhi: In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of energy security through sustainable energy generation, NLC India Ltd has entered into two significant Joint Ventures (JVs) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL). These JVs are poised to make a major impact on India’s power sector, with one focusing on renewable energy and the other on lignite-based thermal power generation in Rajasthan.

Under the guidance of Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, and Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, the agreements represent a key part of NLC India’s aggressive capacity expansion plan.

The first JV, between NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and RRVUNL, will focus on establishing renewable energy projects in Rajasthan, furthering the nation’s commitment to clean energy. The second JV involves NLCIL and RRVUNL collaborating to develop a lignite-based thermal power station, which will contribute to India’s overall energy mix by leveraging Rajasthan’s lignite resources.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Alok, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) for Energy, Government of Rajasthan, and Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLCIL. Representing the respective companies, Director (Finance) of NLCIL, Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, and CMD of RRVUNL, Devendra Shringi, formalized the partnership.

In both Joint Ventures, NLCIL will hold a 74% equity stake, while RRVUNL will retain 26%, reflecting a balanced partnership aimed at strengthening Rajasthan’s energy infrastructure.

These JVs mark a significant step toward sustainable energy and power generation in India. The renewable energy projects are expected to help meet the country’s growing power demands while reducing carbon emissions, in line with global efforts to combat climate change. Simultaneously, the lignite-based thermal power station will provide a reliable energy source, complementing the renewable energy initiatives.

This collaboration between NLCIL and RRVUNL reinforces the government’s focus on energy diversification and security, advancing India’s journey towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
