Nitin Gadkari Attends Swearing-In Ceremony of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian
Tehran: Nitin Jairam Gadkari, India’s Minister of Road Transport and Highways, attended the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran on July 30, 2024.
In his address, Minister Gadkari conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to President Pezeshkian. He expressed India’s optimism for strengthened bilateral relations under the new Iranian administration.
During his visit, Minister Gadkari engaged in productive discussions with Iranian officials. Both sides positively assessed the current state of bilateral relations and explored avenues for further cooperation. A key focus of these talks was the development of Chabahar Port, a strategic project that has been a cornerstone of Indo-Iranian collaboration.
The Chabahar Port, located on the southeastern coast of Iran, holds significant promise for enhancing regional connectivity. Both parties emphasized that the port would not only bolster bilateral trade but also provide critical access to landlocked Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, facilitating their access to regional and global markets.
The discussions underscored the importance of Chabahar Port in promoting regional stability and economic growth. It is seen as a vital hub that can bridge markets and foster stronger economic ties among participating countries.
As Minister Gadkari concluded his visit, he reiterated India’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Iran. The visit marks a continued effort to strengthen ties and collaborate on shared economic and strategic interests.
