Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has reviewed the proposed redevelopment of its City Centre, popularly known as Nicco Park, with Housing and Urban Development Minister and BDA Chairman Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra directing officials to expedite the process and ensure timely progress.
BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana and other senior officials attended the review meeting held on Friday.
The proposed redevelopment aims to transform the ageing facility into a modern urban recreation hub for people across age groups. The upgraded City Centre is planned to bring together leisure, entertainment, commercial and outdoor recreational facilities.
The proposed amenities include a dedicated food court, market complex, multiple entertainment zones and boating facilities. The plan also envisages the development of core infrastructure, commercial and entertainment zones, along with modern recreational and activity-based facilities.
The redevelopment is intended to make the City Centre a vibrant public space offering diverse recreation and leisure options to residents and visitors.
Alongside the park redevelopment, the BDA is also working on the modernisation of the adjoining stormwater channel and lake zone. The proposed works include landscaping, walkways and restoration of the lake zone. These works have received approval from the State Government.
