Bhubaneswar: The National Health Mission (NHM), Odisha, organized a State-Level Review Meeting on Quality Assurance Initiatives, highlighting the critical role of high-quality care in building a robust and sustainable health system. The meeting, held in Bhubaneswar, brought together health officials from across the state to assess progress and set the roadmap for achieving excellence in healthcare services.
Mission Director Dr. Brundha D, addressing the gathering, emphasized that delivering the right care at the right time to the right patient is the cornerstone of effective healthcare systems. “High-quality care is the most important aspect of a high-performing and sustainable health system,” she stated.
The review meeting delved into the progress and implementation of key quality assurance programs, including:
- National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS): Emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistent quality across healthcare facilities.
- Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative (LaQshya): Aiming to enhance maternal and newborn care in labor rooms.
- MusQan Certification: Focused on improving child healthcare services.
- Kayakalpa Incentives: Promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control in healthcare facilities.
The District Programme Management Unit (DPMU) of Ganjam district and the City Programme Management Unit (CPMU) of Berhampur Municipal Corporation were felicitated for achieving 100% NQAS certification across all Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) in their respective areas. Their efforts underscore a commitment to maintaining high standards in urban healthcare delivery.
The meeting witnessed participation from senior officials, including Dr. Dinabandhu Panda, Special Secretary (Medical Services), and senior officers of NHM and the Health & Family Welfare Department. Representatives from all 30 districts and five municipal corporations, including DMOs, superintendents, quality assurance managers, and hospital managers, actively contributed to the discussions.
The review concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen quality assurance initiatives across the state, ensuring better healthcare delivery for all. The NHM Odisha reaffirmed its commitment to advancing programs like NQAS, LaQshya, and MusQan to improve patient care and enhance the overall healthcare experience.
