Bhubaneswar: The newly appointed chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, has issued a stern warning against servitors using mobile phones atop the chariots during the Rath Yatra. In his first statement after assuming charge, Padhee emphasized that no servitors would be allowed to climb atop the chariots without authorization, as clearly outlined in the SJTA guidelines.
Dr. Padhee announced that strict action would be taken against any priests found using mobile phones and taking photographs while on the chariots. “Use of mobile phones by some servitors atop chariots and the entry of unauthorized servitors have been observed. Strict action will be taken against such indiscipline conduct. No one could climb atop the chariot unless he is engaged in service,” he asserted.
Calling for cooperation from all servitors, Padhee highlighted the importance of upholding the sanctity and discipline of the rituals. “We seek cooperation from all the servitors and hope they will cooperate with us. We should not invite condemnation from various quarters; rather, we should involve ourselves in the promotion of our culture,” he stated.
Dr. Padhee also addressed a recent incident during the Adapa Pahandi of Lord Balabhadra, apologizing to the Lord for the mishap. He informed that a committee has been formed to inquire into the matter and assured that the temple management would take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
He emphasized that upcoming rituals like Bahuda Yatra, Adhara Pana, and Niladri Bije of the trinity would be conducted smoothly, with utmost importance placed on performing the rituals in a disciplined manner. “The SJTA’s top priority is to ensure smooth rituals,” he added.
