
Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and reducing traffic congestion, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday inaugurated a new railway overbridge linking Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts.
Constructed at a cost of ₹60.965 crore, the 511-meter-long bridge aims to streamline transportation between the two districts, benefiting approximately 100,000 people daily. The bridge connects Nuabazar to Press Chhak, offering smoother travel for students, working professionals, patients, and senior citizens while cutting down travel time.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Harichandan emphasized the state government’s commitment to developing high-quality and sustainable infrastructure to propel Odisha’s growth. “Odisha is emerging as a hub of opportunities, and advanced connectivity systems like this bridge will play a pivotal role in connecting people and fostering overall development,” he said.
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Chandra Sethi, Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Souvic Biswal, Cuttack-Barabati MLA Sofia Firdous, Mahanga MLA Sarada Prasad Pradhan, and Cuttack District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde. Social worker Nayan Mohanty and actor Sritam Das also attended the ceremony.
