NCGG Launches 71st Capacity Building Programme for Bangladesh Civil Servants in Collaboration with MEA

New Delhi:   The 71st Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for Civil Servants of Bangladesh commenced today at the prestigious National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG). This two-week program, running from March 4th to March 15th, is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India.

The program, held in Mussoorie and New Delhi, has attracted 43 officers serving in various capacities, including Deputy Secretaries, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Senior Assistant Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners. The collaboration between NCGG and the MEA underscores the commitment to strengthening the skills and capabilities of civil servants in Bangladesh.

With the successful conclusion of the 69th and 70th Capacity Building Programs, NCGG has achieved a significant milestone by conducting capacity-building programs for 2500 civil servants of Bangladesh. In total, 2600 Bangladeshi civil servants have benefited from these programs, which are conducted under the ITEC program of the Ministry of External Affairs. The partnership is governed by Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by NCGG with the Government of Bangladesh.

After completing the first phase of the Capacity Building Programme for 1,500 civil servants, NCGG signed an MoU with the Government of Bangladesh to further enhance the capacity of an additional 1,800 civil servants by 2025. The current initiative reaffirms NCGG’s commitment to providing valuable training to government officials, with 983 officers from Bangladesh having already received training to date.

The inaugural session of the program was presided over by Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG and Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reform and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India. Shri Srinivas emphasized the role of technology in effective governance, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of “Minimum Government and Maximum Governance.” The program aims to empower officers by showcasing pan-India good governance practices and providing hands-on experience in the functioning of secretariats at both the state and central levels.

Dr. A.P. Singh, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator, delivered a comprehensive presentation on NCGG’s background and activities. He highlighted the program’s focus on the evolving governance landscape and technological advancements, aiming to empower citizens, ensure accountability, and bring transparency to daily operations. In partnership with the MEA, NCGG has also provided training to civil servants from 17 countries.

The entire capacity-building program will be supervised by Dr. A. P. Singh, Course Coordinator, along with Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Associate Course Coordinator, Dr. Mukesh Bhandari, Associate Course Coordinator, Shri Sanjay Dutt Pant, Programme Assistant, and the dedicated capacity-building team at NCGG.
