National Learning Week Celebrated with ‘Adarsh Karmayogi Awards’ for Lifelong Learning

New Delhi: The Mission Karmayogi National Program, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, aims to transform civil services from a ‘Rule Based’ to a ‘Role Based’ and citizen-centric approach. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the National Learning Week, titled ‘Karmayogi Saptah’, which runs from October 19 to October 25, 2024.

On the third day of this week-long celebration, 13 exemplary employees were honored with the “Adarsh Karmayogi Awards” by Union Minister of Coal & Mines, G Kishan Reddy, and Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, on October 21, 2024. This recognition serves to encourage employees within the Ministry of Mines to embrace lifelong learning as part of the Mission Karmayogi initiative, which reinforces the government’s commitment to enhancing citizen-centric services through capacity building.

The awardees hail from various organizations under the administrative control of the Ministry of Mines, including:

  • Geological Survey of India (8)
  • Hindustan Copper Limited, PSU (3)
  • Indian Bureau of Mines, Subordinate Office (2)

The iGOT Karmayogi portal has revolutionized training opportunities for civil servants in India, allowing officials to access a wide array of courses tailored to their interests and career aspirations from anywhere at any time. Notably, lower-ranking officials such as Layeeka Sultana, a Multitasking Staff member, and Manoj Kumar Meena, a driver, exemplified this initiative by completing 131 and 109 courses, respectively.

Since embarking on the Mission Karmayogi program, the Ministry of Mines successfully onboarded 100% of its employees onto the iGOT Karmayogi portal by December 2023. The ministry has adopted a capacity-building program for all employees starting January 1, 2024, and has completed three quarters of training sessions with commendable results. Despite being a smaller ministry, the Ministry of Mines achieved 100% course completion in the last three quarters and was recognized as one of the top performers among various Ministries, Departments, and Organizations (MDOs) by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC).

Additionally, organizations under the Ministry of Mines have shown exceptional performance, with the Indian Bureau of Mines ranked as the No. 1 performer among top MDOs in the 500 to 1,000 users category, while the Geological Survey of India secured the No. 2 position among top MDOs in the 1,000 to 10,000 users category as of September 2024.

The ongoing National Learning Week and the recognition of diligent employees highlight the Government’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and development among civil servants, ultimately enhancing service delivery to citizens across the nation.
