New Delhi: National Energy Conservation Day 2024 was commemorated with a grand function at Vigyan Bhawan, graced by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. The event highlighted the critical role of energy conservation in shaping a sustainable future and honored exceptional contributions to energy efficiency.

Addressing the gathering, Vice President Dhankhar emphasized the collective responsibility toward resource preservation, stating, “Optimal utilization of resources and energy is not just a responsibility but an obligation to humanity. Reckless exploitation denies future generations their rightful inheritance. Innovation and renewable energy offer us a sustainable path forward.”

The Vice President presented awards to the winners of the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2024, celebrating the creativity and commitment of young participants. Shripad Yesso Naik, who also attended the event, felicitated winners of the National Energy Conservation Awards across various sectors, including industries, transport, buildings, institutions, and appliances.

In his address, Naik lauded India’s inclusive approach to energy efficiency, highlighting key initiatives under the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Act of 2022. These include mandates for integrating renewable energy in large residential buildings and strengthening carbon market frameworks. He credited programs like PAT, S&L, ECBC, EV, and UJALA for driving significant energy savings and translating policy into impactful action.

“India’s children, through their participation in the National Painting Competition, have shown remarkable commitment to shaping a sustainable future. Their vision reminds us that the choices we make today will determine the world they inherit tomorrow,” Naik said, congratulating all participants and winners.

Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Pankaj Agarwal, described the event as a celebration of innovation and collaboration in energy conservation. He emphasized the importance of energy efficiency in achieving India’s climate goals and ensuring long-term energy security.
