National Centre for Good Governance Launches Capacity Building Program for Sri Lankan Civil Servants

New Delhi:  The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), an autonomous institution under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, initiated its first executive batch of a special capacity-building program for senior civil servants of Sri Lanka today. The program, scheduled from February 12 to February 17, 2024, aims to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in public policy and governance.

Fourteen senior civil servant officers from Sri Lanka, holding key positions such as Secretary to the Prime Minister, Deputy Solicitor General, Directors, and Executive Director, among others, are participating in the program. The initiative aligns with the principles of ‘Vasudeva Kutumbakam’ and the ‘neighbourhoods first’ policy advocated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

The capacity-building program focuses on three key pillars: Digital Governance, Anti-Corruption Strategies, and Public Policy Institutions. By sharing India’s development models and best practices, the program aims to empower participants with skills and knowledge that can drive positive change, foster transparency, and strengthen governance in Sri Lanka.

Shri V Srinivas, Director General of NCGG and Secretary of Department of Administration Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), welcomed the participants and provided insights into India’s Administrative Reforms and Effective Redressal of Public Grievances. He shared the progress and plans of the organization, emphasizing initiatives such as the Good Governance Index, National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment, Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System, Viksit Bharat: Empowering Citizens & Reaching the Last Mile, and Innovation in Governance: Secretarial Reforms.

The thematic sessions of the program cover a wide range of topics, including Digital Public Infrastructure as a Global Public Good, Open Network for Digital Commerce, Government e-Marketplace (GeM), NITI Aayog’s Vision India @2047, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana, Aadhar as a tool for Good Governance, Mission Karmayogi, and Anti-Corruption Strategies, among others.

As part of the cultural immersion experience, the program includes visits to the National Museum and the iconic Taj Mahal. Senior bureaucrats from various ministries, including the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government e-Marketplace, National Health Authority, and NITI Aayog, will share their experiences and insights with the visiting delegation.

The capacity-building program will be conducted under the supervision of the NCGG training team, emphasizing practical insights, interactive sessions, and hands-on experiences to enhance the skill set of the Sri Lankan civil servants.
