Nation Celebrates Lineman Diwas to Honour Frontline Heroes of Power Sector

New Delhi:   The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power, hosted the fourth edition of Lineman Diwas in New Delhi today, a celebration dedicated to recognizing and honoring the unwavering dedication of linemen and ground maintenance staff across the nation’s power sector.

Over 150 linemen and linewomen from more than 40 state and private transmission and distribution companies, spanning Andhra Pradesh to Delhi, congregated in the capital to participate in the event. The initiative, in collaboration with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL), aimed to boost the morale of these frontline heroes by providing well-deserved recognition and appreciation.

The theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Seva, Suraksha, Swabhiman,’ underscores the dedication, service, and sacrifice of linemen who form the backbone of electricity distribution.

The CEA’s vision is to establish Lineman Diwas as a nationwide tradition, celebrated by all state and private transmission and distribution companies. During the event, linemen had the opportunity to exchange ideas, share safety best practices, and foster collective learning within the power industry.

A special display showcasing various safety equipment and tools allowed participants to learn more about best practices. Videos screened at the event emphasized the importance of workplace safety and incident prevention, further empowering linemen to draw insights from their peers and reinforce effective safety protocols.

Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri R. K. Singh, conveyed his appreciation for the linemen’s invaluable contribution through a video message. “The celebration of Lineman Diwas is the start of a culture of greater appreciation for the unrelenting efforts of the frontline workers of the power sector,” he stated. The Minister acknowledged the linemen’s role as the lifeline for the nation, ensuring uninterrupted power supply despite challenges like adverse weather and unforeseen crises.

“We are grateful to the linemen who go above and beyond to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the functioning of the country’s technological, industrial, and social infrastructure,” said Minister Singh. He highlighted the effectiveness of Lineman Diwas as a platform for the exchange of ideas and the sharing of safety best practices among participants.

In extending his best wishes to linemen, Minister Singh emphasized that without their dedication, the nation’s power sector cannot function. Lineman Diwas stands as a testament to the crucial role played by these frontline heroes, fostering a culture of appreciation and recognition for their relentless service to the nation.
