London: In a remarkable feat, Nat Sciver-Brunt has once again been named the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year, securing the prestigious accolade for the second consecutive year. The accomplished player showcased outstanding form throughout 2023, delivering stellar performances in key encounters, notably during the Women’s Ashes against Australia.
Sciver-Brunt faced stiff competition from other talented players, including Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu and the Australian duo of Ash Gardner and Beth Mooney. Her contributions with the bat were nothing short of exceptional, amassing 393 runs from just six games at an impressive average of 131. Notably, she registered three centuries during the year, bringing her total number of ODI tons to eight, placing her just one behind England’s national record jointly held by Tammy Beaumont and Charlotte Edwards, who have nine each.
The gifted cricketer also left her mark in Test cricket, showcasing resilience with two fifties against Australia and India. Her performance in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was equally outstanding, finishing as England’s highest run-scorer with 216 runs at an impressive strike rate of 141.17.
One of the standout moments of Sciver-Brunt’s year was her brilliant knock of 77 against India, contributing significantly to England’s emphatic victory at Wankhede in December. Additionally, she displayed her prowess with the ball, securing nine wickets, showcasing her all-round excellence on the cricketing stage.
