NASSCOM Technology Confluence 2024: Bhubaneswar Hosts Key Discussions on Emerging Technologies

Bhubaneswar: The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), in collaboration with the Electronics and IT Department of the Government of Odisha, hosted the Bhubaneswar edition of its flagship event, NASSCOM Technology Confluence (NTC) 2024. The event brought Odisha’s growing prominence in India’s IT landscape to the forefront while fostering critical discussions on transformative technologies.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Odisha’s Electronics and IT Minister, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, highlighted the state’s balanced approach to development. He emphasized that Odisha’s achievements are rooted in proactive leadership, strong governance, and a commitment to the well-being of its people. He noted that Odisha has successfully embraced progress while preserving its cultural traditions, serving as a model for sustainable and inclusive growth in India.

Principal Secretary of the Electronics and IT Department, Vishal Dev, underscored the importance of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and semiconductor design in driving Odisha’s economic growth. He emphasized the state’s active formulation of policies and initiatives to foster innovation and establish itself as a leader in transformative domains.

The event included dynamic panel discussions and fireside chats, where participants explored critical topics like quantum computing, artificial intelligence, data governance, and cybersecurity. Experts discussed the necessity of fostering innovation in the semiconductor sector and highlighted the role of FinTech Global Capability Centers in driving technological advancements. Other sessions focused on technology’s impact on manufacturing and mining, strategies to enhance collaboration between industry and academia, and Odisha’s vibrant startup ecosystem, which is fostering innovation in data science.

The hosting of NTC in Bhubaneswar is a testament to the city’s emergence as one of India’s leading IT hubs. Its robust infrastructure, strategic connectivity, and technological readiness have positioned it as a center for software development, IT services, and advancements in semiconductors. These factors have made Bhubaneswar an attractive destination for global companies and a leader in innovation-driven industries.

The event featured prominent industry leaders and experts, including Jaspreet Singh, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat, Chandi Prasad Ojha, AVP and CTO at Insurance – LTI Mindtree, Amit Mitra, Chief Operating Officer at Broadridge India, and Dr. Indranil Mitra, Partner at PwC, among others. Their insights added significant depth to the discussions, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and innovation in shaping the future of India’s IT sector.

NTC 2024, which began on November 6 and concludes on November 26, spans 10 cities across India, including Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and NCR. The Bhubaneswar edition underscored Odisha’s commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive growth while showcasing the state’s potential to lead India’s digital economy.
