Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park is preparing to receive two hoolock gibbons and two leopards from Itanagar, in exchange for two tigers and three gharials.

A team led by veterinary doctor Swarang Tadap from Itanagar visited Nandankanan on Friday, following the approval of the Central Zoo Authority for the animal exchange.

A six-member team, including a veterinary doctor from Bhubaneswar, has departed for Itanagar to collect the gibbons and leopards.

A red tiger named Rocky, a red tigress named Sohani, and three gharials have been handed over to the Itanagar team. They will transport the animals by road, with an estimated travel time of four to five days. Adequate arrangements have been made to ensure the animals’ safety and provide them with food during the journey.
