MWCD Launches National Workshop and 100-Days Awareness Campaign for Women Empowerment
New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) inaugurated the “National Workshop on SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women – Launch of the 100-Days Special Awareness Campaign” at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi today. The event, chaired by Union Minister of State for Women & Child Development, Savitri Thakur, and attended by Secretary Anil Malik, marks the beginning of an extensive 100-day awareness campaign focusing on women-centric issues nationwide.
The campaign, scheduled from 21st June to 4th October 2024, aims to bolster awareness and outreach on women’s empowerment through a series of targeted activities including enrolment drives and educational sessions across the country.
In her inaugural address, Minister of State Savitri Thakur emphasized the critical role of empowering women through effective implementation of key government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Poshan Abhiyaan, and Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). She underscored the importance of these initiatives in enhancing women’s socio-economic status and ensuring their holistic development.
Secretary, MWCD, Anil Malik, introduced the campaign’s framework, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing women-led development aligned with the national vision of inclusive growth and gender equality.
The one-day workshop featured interactive sessions on legal provisions, effective communication strategies, and counselling techniques tailored for grassroots functionaries associated with SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEWs) operational in 693 districts across India. These sessions are designed to equip participants with necessary skills to facilitate the last-mile delivery of services and promote women’s active participation in developmental initiatives.
Through this 100-day program, MWCD reaffirms its commitment to fostering women’s empowerment across multiple domains including education, health, livelihoods, and social security. The initiative seeks to create a conducive environment where every woman can realize her potential and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
