Bangladesh Fast Bowler Struck on the Head During Practice Session
Comilla: Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman faced a concerning incident during a training session with the Comilla Victorians as he was struck on the head by a shot from Litton Das. The left-arm pacer, who started bleeding after the impact, was promptly attended to with first aid on the field before being urgently taken to the hospital for further treatment in a standby ambulance.
The incident occurred when Litton Das, batting in an adjoining net, hit a shot that directly impacted Mustafizur Rahman on the left parietal area of his head. The severity of the impact led to an open wound, necessitating immediate medical attention.
A media release issued by team physio SM Zahidul Islam Sazal provided an update on Mustafizur’s condition. It stated, “During practice, a ball hit directly at the left parietal area (head) of Mustafizur Rahman. There was an open wound at his parietal area, and we have worked with a compression bandage to stop bleeding and immediately shifted him to Imperial Hospital.”
The release continued, “After a CT scan, we are satisfied that he’s had only an external injury. There was no intra-cranial bleeding. Now the surgical team has given him stitches to treat the open wound. He is now under the close supervision of the Comilla Victorians team physio.”
The subsequent CT scans have provided relief, confirming that there is no internal bleeding. Mustafizur Rahman is now receiving stitches for the external injury, and the medical team is closely monitoring his condition. The incident has raised concerns about player safety during practice sessions, emphasizing the need for stringent safety measures in cricket training.
