MoU Signed Between Haryana Govt and NFSU to Strengthen Forensic Science in Criminal Justice

Panchkula: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of Haryana and the National Forensic Science University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The event was attended by Union Minister Manohar Lal and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh.

Amit Shah emphasized the importance of integrating a scientific approach into Haryana’s criminal justice system. He highlighted the transformation of outdated laws, with a focus on ensuring speedy and equitable justice. One significant change is the mandatory involvement of forensic teams in cases with sentences of seven years or more, which will increase the demand for forensic experts, a need NFSU aims to fulfill.

The Home Minister noted that NFSU campuses have been established in nine states, with plans to expand to 16, creating a pool of trained professionals to enhance crime resolution and conviction rates. He also mentioned the potential establishment of a training institute on the same campus, with the Government of India ready to fund forensic science training.
