MoSPI Launches e-Sankhyiki Portal for Enhanced Data Management and Dissemination

New Delhi: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has launched the e-Sankhyiki portal (https://esankhyiki.mospi.gov.in) to establish a comprehensive system for managing and sharing official statistics, ensuring seamless data accessibility across the country.

The portal, designed to enhance the dissemination of data, features an Application Programming Interface (API) that enables seamless integration with other platforms, including the National Data and Analytics Platform (NDAP). This initiative underscores the ministry’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient data sharing and transparency.

In addition to e-Sankhyiki, MoSPI has introduced a dedicated Microdata Portal (https://microdata.gov.in/nada43/index.php/home) for sharing microdata from surveys and census activities. This portal allows researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to access detailed datasets, promoting data-driven decision-making.

To ensure uniformity and consistency in data dissemination, MoSPI has developed and circulated a National Metadata Structure (NMDS). Available on the ministry’s official website (www.mospi.gov.in), the NMDS provides standardized guidelines for data management and sharing across various central ministries and departments.

Apart from MoSPI’s efforts, other central ministries and departments continue to share their respective data through their portals, websites, and publications. This multi-channel approach enhances the accessibility of government data for public and institutional use.

This information was provided by Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Planning, and Culture, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.

The launch of these initiatives represents a significant step toward making official statistics more accessible, fostering transparency, and supporting India’s vision of data-driven governance.
