
New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has extended the extraordinary e-Auction of mementos received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting the country’s rich cultural, spiritual, and historical heritage. Originally scheduled from September 17 to October 2, 2024, the auction will now be open for participation until October 31, 2024. The auction features a diverse collection of traditional art forms, including vibrant paintings, intricate sculptures, indigenous handicrafts, and captivating folk and tribal artifacts. These unique items, bestowed upon the Prime Minister as symbols of honor and respect, include traditional angavastras, shawls, ceremonial headgear, and swords, reflecting India’s deep-rooted cultural traditions.
Among the notable items are Khadi shawls, Silver Filigree, Mata Ni Pachedi Art, Gond Art, and Madhubani Art, representing the nation’s diverse artistic heritage. A highlight of the auction is the inclusion of sports memorabilia from the 2024 Paralympics, celebrating the exceptional achievements and resilience of India’s para-athletes.
This is the sixth edition of the e-Auction, which was first launched in January 2019. As in previous years, the proceeds from the auction will contribute to the Namami Gange Project, the Union Government’s flagship initiative aimed at conserving and restoring the Ganga River and its fragile ecosystem. Funds generated from this initiative will support ongoing efforts to protect and preserve India’s national river, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to environmental conservation.
