New Delhi: In a major move to strengthen the market access for cooperative products, the Ministry of Cooperation today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swiggy Instamart for onboarding cooperative dairy and other products onto the digital marketplace. The MoU was signed by Shri Amitesh Jha, CEO of Swiggy Instamart, and Shri D.K. Verma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry, in the presence of Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani.
The partnership will open up new opportunities for cooperatives to connect with tech-savvy consumers by leveraging Swiggy’s digital outreach and technological infrastructure. Cooperative brands will now be able to list their products — including those under Bharat Organics — on Swiggy’s e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms, greatly enhancing their visibility and customer reach.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, the Ministry has launched more than 60 initiatives to modernize and empower India’s cooperative sector. Strengthening market access for organic and other cooperative produce has been a key focus of these efforts.
Through this MoU, Swiggy will create a dedicated “Cooperative” category on its Instamart platform, showcasing a wide range of products such as organics, dairy, millets, and handicrafts produced by cooperatives across the country. In addition, Swiggy will collaborate with the Ministry to support cooperative brands through marketing, promotions, consumer technology solutions, and capacity-building initiatives.
Recognizing the United Nations’ declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperation, Swiggy and the Ministry will jointly launch an awareness campaign to promote cooperative organisations and their contributions to the economy.
The MoU signing follows the recent inauguration of a state-of-the-art packaging facility by Dr. Bhutani at the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The facility, dedicated to packaging pulses and organic food products, is a significant step toward ensuring high standards of hygiene and quality for cooperative goods.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Cooperation and Swiggy Instamart is expected to revolutionize the way cooperative products reach consumers, fostering a stronger, digitally-empowered cooperative movement in India.
