Ministry of Coal Reports Record 74.07 Million Tonnes Production in July 2024

New Delhi: The Ministry of Coal has reported a substantial increase in overall coal production for July 2024, achieving a total of 74.07 million tonnes (MT). This marks a 6.69% increase compared to the 69.42 MT produced in July 2023.

Coal India Limited (CIL) contributed significantly to this growth, with production rising to 55.04 MT in July 2024, a 2.54% increase from 53.67 MT in July 2023. The cumulative coal production for the fiscal year 2024-25 (up to July 2024) reached 321.45 MT, up from 292.80 MT during the same period in the previous fiscal year, reflecting a robust growth of 9.78%.

Coal dispatches also saw a notable increase, with a total of 79.54 MT dispatched in July 2024, up 4.58% from the 76.05 MT dispatched in July 2023. The cumulative coal dispatch for the fiscal year stood at 341.61 MT, compared to 316.54 MT in the corresponding period of the previous year, marking a growth of 7.92%.

As of July 31, 2024, coal stocks held by coal companies surged to 86.8 MT, showcasing an impressive annual growth rate of 43.85%. This significant increase underscores the sector’s robust performance and efficiency.

The Ministry of Coal’s latest figures highlight the sector’s resilience and commitment to meeting India’s energy demands. The ministry remains dedicated to fostering sustained growth and enhancing efficiency within the coal sector.
