MHA Urges Responsible Disposal of Paper Flags Post National Events

New Delhi: In preparation for Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a circular to all states and union territories, emphasizing the need for responsible disposal of paper flags used by the public during significant national, cultural, and sports events.

The circular underscores the importance of treating paper flags with reverence and avoiding their improper disposal on the ground after events. The Ministry stated, “Such flags are to be disposed of privately, consistent with the dignity of the flag.” The advisory aims to instill a sense of responsibility among citizens regarding the proper handling and respectful disposal of the national flag made of paper.

The initiative aligns with the broader goal of promoting civic consciousness and ensuring that symbols of national pride are treated with the utmost respect. The MHA encourages a collective effort to maintain the dignity of the national flag, fostering a sense of patriotism and environmental responsibility among the public.

As the country prepares to commemorate Republic Day, the circular serves as a reminder for citizens to actively participate in upholding the sanctity of the national flag, contributing to a cleaner and more respectful post-event environment.
