New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) continues its steadfast commitment to enhancing cybersecurity across government departments with the latest iteration of the ‘Cyber Surakshit Bharat’ initiative. This initiative, aimed at combatting cybercrime and bolstering digital infrastructure resilience, recently concluded its 43rd Chief Information Security Officers (CISO) Deep-Dive training programme.
Organised under the auspices of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), the week-long training from April 8-12, 2024, witnessed participation from key states and Union Territories, including Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Hosted at the prestigious Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi, the programme drew senior officials from MeitY, NeGD, and IIPA for its inaugural session.
The CISO Deep-Dive training programme is meticulously crafted to equip participants with comprehensive insights into cyber threats, cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies, and the formulation of robust cyber crisis management plans. By fostering a deeper understanding of cyber-attacks and legal frameworks, the programme empowers CISOs to proactively safeguard their organizations’ digital assets and bolster cyber resilience.
At its core, the initiative seeks to raise awareness, enhance capacities, and foster a cyber-resilient ecosystem across government departments. By sensitising participants on cybersecurity best practices and aligning with the Digital India programme’s objectives, the training aims to facilitate the seamless delivery of government services to citizens while upholding cybersecurity standards.
Since its inception in 2018, the CISO training programme has emerged as a beacon of collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. With 43 batches conducted and over 1,604 CISOs and frontline IT officials trained, the programme stands as a testament to the government’s proactive approach towards cybersecurity capacity building.
