Male Tiger Travels Across Three States to Reach Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Wildlife wing of the Forest Department announced that a male tiger from the central Indian landscape has traversed across three states to reach Odisha.

The Forest department disclosed that the male tiger was captured on camera trap near the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, marking an extraordinary journey across state borders.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda took to Twitter to share the exciting development, stating, “This male tiger has travelled across 3 states from the central Indian landscape and has been camera trapped close to Similipal Tiger Reserve. Exciting prospects of adding to the gene pool of the STR.”

This revelation follows earlier reports of a Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) migrating from the Sanjay-Dubri Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh to Odisha. The RBT was captured on camera trap in Sundargarh district in March this year, adding to the growing evidence of tiger migration patterns in the region.
