Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Friday the formation of a low-pressure area over the northern Bay of Bengal, extending into the coastal regions of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal.
The IMD reported that the low-pressure system is associated with a cyclonic circulation reaching up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, which tilts southwestwards with height. This system is expected to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand over the next two days.
Despite the development of this weather system, the IMD has not issued any specific forecasts regarding its potential impact on Odisha. The department continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary.
