
Bhubaneswar: The landfall process of Cyclone Yaas which started between 10.30 Am to 11.30 Am has completed. During the landfall the intensity was 130-140 kmph gusting to 155 kmph. The very severe cyclonic storm Yaas crossed north Odisha coast about 20 km south of Balasore.
The cyclone made a double landfall on Odisha coast, while the first landfall was made early in the morning after which it again went back to the sea, the process of second landfall started at 10.30 am.
As per the latest update, the cyclone is moving towards Mayurbhanj districts with wind speed between 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system moved northwestwards and was entering Mayurbhanj district. It is estimated that wind speed would remain in the range of 100-110 kmph in Mayurbhanj. “The severe cyclonic storm centered about 25 km west-northwest of Balasore and 35 km south-southwest of Baripada with wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph,” IMD said.
The system is likely to move northwestwards and weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm during the next 3 hours.
