
Chennai: Odisha showcased its prowess in hockey as both the girls’ and boys’ teams secured berths in the finals at the 6th Khelo India Youth Games 2023, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
In a spirited performance, Odisha’s girls’ team fell short against Madhya Pradesh, succumbing to a 3-1 defeat in the semi-final. Despite the setback, the girls displayed commendable skill and determination throughout the match.
On the other hand, the boys’ team faced a tough challenge against Madhya Pradesh, resulting in a 2-2 draw in full-time. The match went into a shoot-out, and Odisha emerged victorious with a 4-3 score, securing their place in the highly anticipated finals.
The finals will witness Odisha’s girls’ team facing Haryana, while the boys’ team will go head-to-head against a formidable opponent in the form of Odisha. As the youth from Odisha gear up for the finals, the state continues to make its mark in the sporting arena, reflecting the rich talent and determination of its young athletes.
