Justice Ramana Appointed as New Chief Justice of India

Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana took charge as 48th Chief Justice of India on April 24. He was sworn in by President Ram Nath Kovind at a brief ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Hailing from an  agricultural family in Andhra Pradesh, Ramana served as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court before being elevated to the Supreme Court in February 2014.
