Jindal Steel and Power Announces ₹70,000 Crore Investment in Odisha at Utkarsh Odisha 2025
Bhubaneswar: In a landmark announcement at the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave 2025, Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) has pledged an additional ₹70,000 crore investment in Odisha, reinforcing its commitment to the state’s industrial and social development. The announcement was made by JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
“Our vision is to make Odisha a global industrial leader while consistently improving the quality of life for its people. This additional investment will not only propel industrial growth but also uplift thousands of families, contributing to India’s journey toward self-reliance,” said Naveen Jindal. He further revealed that JSP is exploring the establishment of a steel plant in Keonjhar District to align with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision for the region.
The event highlighted Odisha’s critical role in India’s economic growth, with speakers emphasizing the importance of public-private collaboration to achieve sustainable development goals.
JSP is already at the forefront of green industrial practices, operating India’s first coal gasification plant for steel production at Angul. The Angul Steel Plant, currently at a capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), will double to 12 MTPA by the end of this year and is set to reach 25.2 MTPA by 2030. This will position it as the world’s largest and greenest steel plant, leading efforts in hydrogen-based green steel production.
Beyond its industrial ventures, JSP has significantly contributed to Odisha’s social development over the past decade, investing ₹900 crore in sustainable initiatives. These programs focus on healthcare, education, skill development, women empowerment, rural livelihoods, sports, and the promotion of art and culture, transforming countless lives across the state.
