The city of Wajima in Ishikawa Prefecture, the coastal epicenter of the quake, reported 19 casualties as emergency teams continue to search through the debris of collapsed and burned structures.

The 7.6 magnitude earthquake triggered tsunami warnings, leading to extensive evacuations and power outages.
