Harare: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill showcased a masterclass in batting as they led India to a thumping 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe, clinching an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. At the Harare Sports Club, India effortlessly chased down Zimbabwe’s total of 152/7, reaching 156 without losing a wicket in just 15.2 overs.
Jaiswal, with a scintillating 93 not out, and Gill, with a composed 58 not out, resembled unstoppable Ferraris on a national highway, dominating the Zimbabwean bowlers from the start.
Jaiswal set the tone in the opening over by smashing Richard Ngarava for three delightful boundaries, utilizing cuts, whips, and heaves. Shubman Gill joined the party, showcasing his trademark short-arm jab and cut to pick up two boundaries off Blessing Muzarabani.
Jaiswal’s aggressive approach continued as he hammered Tendai Chatara for four boundaries, bringing up India’s fifty in just 3.5 overs. His fifty came in 29 balls, achieved by slapping an overpitched delivery from Sikandar Raza through extra cover for a boundary.
Gill, steady at the other end, reached his second consecutive fifty in 35 balls. Together, Jaiswal and Gill’s partnership became a spectacle of stroke play, leaving Zimbabwe’s bowlers with no answers.
The chase was completed with ease, as Jaiswal sealed the win by pulling Muzarabani for a boundary, giving India a comprehensive victory with 28 balls to spare.
