Dakar: In a significant step towards bolstering maritime cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties, the Indian Navy’s latest stealth frigate, INS Tushil, arrived at the Port of Dakar, Senegal, on January 3, 2025, as part of its operational deployment.
Under the command of Captain Peter Varghese, the state-of-the-art frigate will engage in an array of military and cultural activities during its visit, fostering closer collaboration between the Indian and Senegalese navies.
The deployment underscores India’s commitment to enhancing regional security and maritime cooperation. During its stay, INS Tushil will host interactions with senior Senegalese military and government officials, conduct training sessions, and facilitate knowledge exchange between naval experts.
A key highlight will be the Passage Exercise (PASSEX) and joint patrol operations off the West African coast. These exercises are designed to improve interoperability and cooperation between the two navies while promoting regional security in the strategic waters of West Africa.
