
New Delhi: Kiwi fruit from Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh has become the first certified organic kiwi in India. The newly certified fruit was launched at the Aadi Mahotsav- mega National Tribal Festival held in Dilli Haat INA.
The launching ceremony was held on Saturday in collaboration with support from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh Agricultural Produce & Livestock Marketing Board (APAPLMB) and the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED).
This initiative has been undertaken as part of the ‘Atma Nirbharta’ campaign.
Arunachal Pradesh is the first state in the country to obtain the organic certification of kiwifruit under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER) – a Central Government scheme undertaken for Northeastern states.
Minister of Law and Justice of India Kiren Rijiju launched the certified organic Kiwi.
