India’s 75th Republic Day Celebrations Embrace Grassroots Governance

New Delhi: In a historic move to celebrate India’s 75th Republic Day, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has extended a warm invitation to elected representatives of exemplary Panchayati Raj Institutions. This initiative, aligning with the government’s vision of Jan Bhagidari (People’s Participation), aims to recognize and involve grassroots leaders in the grand Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.

On the morning of January 26, 2024, the special invitees will be treated to the awe-inspiring Republic Day Parade, showcasing the diversity, unity, and strength of the nation. Following the parade, the elected representatives of Panchayats will convene at the official residence of Union Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj at 27, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi, for a special program.

The esteemed gathering will be graced by the presence of Union Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, and Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Shri Kapil Moreshwar Patil. These dignitaries will honor and felicitate the Panchayat representatives for their remarkable contributions to grassroots governance.

The interaction between Union Minister Shri Giriraj Singh and the Panchayat representatives, accompanied by Ministers of State and other senior officials, aims to strengthen the democratic roots and foster a closer connection between citizens and their elected leaders. The engagement will also highlight the pivotal role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

Approximately 500 esteemed guests have been invited, including elected representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions and their spouses from across the country. The selected participants belong to Panchayats that have received National Panchayat Awards in previous years or have demonstrated commendable work at the grassroots level.

This initiative not only marks a significant step towards recognizing the pivotal role of Panchayats but also reinforces the democratic ethos by actively involving them in the nation’s 75th Republic Day celebrations. It signifies a commitment to Jan Bhagidari, emphasizing the importance of citizen participation in the democratic process and celebrating the achievements of those at the grassroots level who contribute to the nation’s progress.
