Birmingham: After a gap of 16 years Indian women’s hockey team won a medal in Commonwealth Games. India won the bronze medal on Sunday.
Skipper Savita Punia Indian women’s hockey team defeated New Zealand by 2-1 in the penalty shootout.
“This match was very tough for us and both teams made a good effort. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, so before we came, we worked every minute and every second. I am so proud. We fought as a team,” the captain shared.
