Indian Shuttlers Pramod and Sukant storm into BWF Para-Badminton World Championships Semifinals

New Delhi: India’s para-badminton stars, Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam, demonstrated their exceptional prowess by securing spots in the semifinals of the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2024, currently underway in Thailand.

Pramod Bhagat, the Tokyo Paralympic Games Gold Medallist and Padma Awardee, showcased his dominance in the quarterfinals against France’s Mathieu Thomas. The match, lasting 30 minutes, witnessed Bhagat’s masterful control, securing victory with a scoreline of 21-15, 21-17. Bhagat is now set to face fellow Indian shuttler Manoj Sarkar in the upcoming semifinal.

Meanwhile, Sukant Kadam exhibited a stellar performance, defeating Nigeria’s Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna in straight sets with a convincing score of 21-13, 21-11. Kadam’s strategic play secured his spot in the semifinals, where he will face Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan.

In the mixed doubles category, Pramod Bhagat partnered with Manisha Ramdass to overcome Japan’s Taiyo Imai and Noriko Ito in a thrilling encounter. Despite a tough fight from the Japanese pair, Bhagat and Ramdass sealed the victory with a score of 21-11, 16-21, 21-18. The duo is now geared up to face Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan and Khalimatus Sadiyah in the semifinals.

Additionally, the Indian duo of Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam will challenge France’s Guillaume Gailly and Mathiew Thomas in the men’s doubles quarterfinals, adding another layer of excitement for Indian badminton enthusiasts.

With their remarkable performances, Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam have not only showcased their individual brilliance but have also elevated India’s standing on the international para-badminton stage. Badminton enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the thrilling semifinal clashes as these Indian shuttlers aim for glory in the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2024.
