
New Delhi: Union Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, reiterated Indian Railways’ commitment to providing affordable rail travel to the poor, lower-middle, and middle classes during a ceremony at Rail Bhavan today. Addressing the gathering on the occasion of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Vaishnaw announced ambitious plans to manufacture 10,000 non-AC coaches in the next two years.
Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Ashwini Vaishnaw underscored Indian Railways’ role in catering to the diverse socio-economic segments of the country. “Indian Railways is committed to ensuring that rail travel remains affordable for all sections of society. In line with this commitment, we have planned the manufacture of 10,000 non-AC coaches over the next two years,” he stated.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of railway personnel in achieving these goals, Vaishnaw called upon the 12 lakh railway employees across the nation to maintain high levels of dedication. “I appeal to all railway personnel to work with utmost dedication and keep their morale high. It is through collective effort that we can ensure the steadfast trust of the people in Indian Railways,” he added.
